Seminole War Commemoration
"Honor To The Dead!"

Join us as we reflect on the solemn event that closed the 2nd Seminole War and honored those who perished in it. 

Friday, August 14

Welcome and Talk at Flagler College, St. Augustine.

  • 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Markland House, located at 102 King Street. (Parking lot across from Markland House at the corner of King St. and MLK Ave.)

  • Featured speaker: Judge Howard O. McGillin, Jr. USMA, ’81. “Building America: West Pointers and the Seminole Wars.”

Saturday, August 15

Reliving the stirring parade and solemn interment ceremony of 1842.  

  • Assemble at the historic St. Francis Barracks at 9:45 AM. Follow the marchers to the St. Augustine National Cemetery at 10:00 AM.

  • Participate in the commemoration ceremony at the memorial pyramid. Re-enactor’s lunch and coin presentation follow.

This event is hosted by the Florida National Guard Historian.

The West Point Society of North Florida, along with the Seminole Wars Foundation, is the founding sponsor.

The morning’s memorial proceedings are open to all.
